Advantage® for Gutters is a single component, one coat solution, allowing you to spend less time and product on each job.

Designed specifically for industrial buildings, Advantage® for Gutters is more effective and long-lasting than merchant grade gutter coatings or sealants. Apply to a whole gutter, or only to problem areas such as seams or fixings where leaks usually start alongside a mastic sealant (an adhesive used to seal joints or bond materials together).

It has fewer COSHH considerations and a lower environmental impact than similar solutions to boost your green credentials. It also has no costly environmental restrictions on transport and storage.

Advantage® for Gutters is a moisture-cured hybrid coating that is toughened with microfibres and sets to the correct thickness, even when applied to the sides of the gutter.

It can be applied between 3°C - 60°C and to damp surfaces, just by wiping away any excess moisture. This means the job gets done quickly and easily, throughout the year.

SOLUTION 2

Other Gutter Coatings and Sealants

A standard off-the-shelf gutter coating or joint sealant is a (relatively) inexpensive fix. But it doesn’t provide the longevity of corrosion resistance you need for industrial gutters.

Applying these kinds of coatings can be a false economy as they often fail shortly after being applied. With Advantage® for Gutters, you get a reassuring 15 year warranty that ensures protection for many years to come.

Gutter Liners

You can use a gutter liner instead of sealing any leaks. However this is only necessary if the gutter is beyond the point of repair.

Gutter liners sit inside the existing gutter and reduce its capacity considerably. Over many metres of industrial guttering, this can make them more likely to overflow during heavy rain.

A liner isn’t quick to install or cheap. As they are bespoke they also take a long time to be produced, causing delays.

Greenford Royal Mail Depot:
The Challenge

  • An EDPM membrane liner failed, and the valley gutter single ply membrane was debonding, with splits appearing and causing leaks.
  • Previous attempts had been made to repair the depot’s industrial gutters, but these were also failing.

Before Application

  • A site-survey was carried out between the contractors and our technical team.
  • It was discovered that the laps, joins, and split areas needed to be reinforced.
  • It was also discovered that there were areas of Cut-Edge-Corrosion on other areas of the roof.
  • Patch tests were done to determine which products would be most effective.

During Application

  • In key problem areas, Advantage® for Gutters was applied to the Single Ply Membrane along with Advantage® Sealant and reinforcement fleece to give it extra tensile strength.
  • The whole Gutter was then coated in Advantage® for Gutters, because it is effective for reinforcing problem areas, as well as protecting against further corrosion.
  • To deal with the Cut-Edge-Corrosion, Advantage® for Cut-Edge-Corrosion was applied with Advantage® Sealant and Primer where needed.
  • Help was available throughout the project to make sure it was going smoothly, and on-site support was provided where needed.

Result

  • Money and time were saved as the existing single ply membrane didn’t have to be removed.
  • The job was completed quickly thanks to the quick curing products used.
  • Enhanced corrosion resistance was ensured thanks to the addition of Graphene to Advantage® for Gutters and Advantage® for Cut-Edge-Corrosion.
  • The 15 year warranty for Advantage® for Gutters provided those at the Greenford Royal Mail Depot reassurance that they would not have the same issues with their gutters again.
  • The Advantage® for Cut-Edge-Corrosion also came with a 15 year warranty for increased peace of mind.
