Get your asbestos roof sealed today with the DIY roofing tapes that make your repair quick and easy. We've gathered together our range of roofing tapes and crack sealants to explain why the roofing industry needs choices.
First of our five is the ever popular fleece backed. Combine it with a topcoat and it's capable of Butyl underneath and laminated with a non-woven polyester fleece on top, giving extra durability. Many contractors use it to repair or strengthen cracks and weaknesses before applying a roof coating. The fleece is designed to work with a coating. It's particularly popular for covering cracks in asbestos roofs. Combine with StopGap as a primer and a durable coating for a watertight finish. Fleece Backed Tape can also be used for the following...
- Sealing floor to wall joints in wet rooms
- Sealing cracks before plastering
- Sound deadening applications
- Preventing air leakage
Like the fleece backed, this tape is more durable than the many bitumen based roofing tapes out there. The foil protects the top side of the tape from UV damage, and provides longer lasting results. We recommend contractors steer clear of bitumen as it can soften in the warmth and crack in the cold, leaving a project vulnerable to leaks.
We sell Butyl because it will stay flexible longer, has good adhesion and this version has the protection of the foil layer. It's also very versatile, and as well as sealing cracks on an asbestos roof, it can be used as...
- A lead flashing alternative e.g. in roofing and conservatory construction
- Over sealing or repair of joints in gutters and downpipes.
- Sealing over T-bars in glazing and conservatories - great for old glass in industrial building roofs
- Temporary remedial work such as sealing leaking components
Remember to combine with the UV curing primer.
Repairing an Asbestos roof? Why not buy a handy repair kit
A 6mm thick version of regular butyl tape. Perfect for sealing around bolts on asbestos roofs, often a requirement for a warranty on coating jobs. Use the StopGap sealant to prepare the surface and provide a UV resistant topcoat. Other uses include
- Sealing end and side laps in steel and aluminium roofing systems
- Metal Liner Sheeting - sealing end laps
- Sealing rooflights
- Sealing metal flashings
- Ridge and eaves sealing in combination with foam fillers
- Sealing penetrations to roof and wall cladding
Not recommended for asbestos. But one to keep in mind. This is a popular combination, but better for EPDM or fibreglass surfaces than asbestos ones. Having the fabric separately means you can position it with the tape however you like, giving you greater versatility. It's doublesided, and an ideal partner for Liquid Roof and Liquid Rubber EPDM. Especially used for splits and repairs around roof lights and air conditioning units on Caravans and Motorhomes. This will strengthen the surface in preparation for a topcoat.
Again, not recommended for asbestos but definitely one to keep in mind. Alien tape is a premium duct tape built for industrial uses, as well as being a waterproofer and UV resistant, it's designed to leave no residue when you peal it off, making it perfect for construction projects. Use on...
