The existing external metal cladding at the DePuy Synthes (Johnson & Johnson) site in Leeds required refurbishment to improve the appearance of the building while retaining and protecting the existing panels.
The building presented a number of application challenges. Long runs of glazing sit immediately above and below the cladding, while the elevations incorporate vertical and sloping panels, deep soffits, fascia panels, external corners and a linking bridge. Achieving a consistent finish across these different angles and details required careful preparation and application.
Windows and other areas outside the coating specification also needed careful protection throughout spraying, with particular attention required around masking lines, panel joints, trims, fixings and lower sheet edges.
Working with Commercial Coating Solutions (CCS), Alltimes provided technical support throughout the cladding refurbishment and specified CladRenew®, providing a 10-year warranty across the agreed coating areas.
Our guidance focused on ensuring the existing surfaces were clean, dry and sound before coating. Any loose material needed to be removed, with exposed or corroded metal correctly prepared and primed.
During the works, Alltimes carried out a progress inspection. With large areas of glazing surrounding the cladding, particular attention was given to masking and protecting the windows throughout spraying and until coating, touch-ins and overspray checks were complete.
